‘Gaia’s Gathering’, an acrylic on canvas painting that was inspired by the idea of fungi’s place within the forest mycorrhizal network, the wood wide web, which connects trees and vegetation.
Claire considered how humanity is essentially unconscious to this communication and blind to the bioluminescence of certain fungi and flora all around us, and imagined enigmatic gatherings within forest openings, and has conveyed these ideas onto her canvas. Additionally, Claire’s signature glowing orbs in this painting are there to suggest and make visual the silent and secretive communications that weave their way through the forest unbeknown to us.
